Announcing the Australian Continental Championship for 2008 3/18/2008
Announcing the Australian Continental Championship for 2008
In true Melbournian tradition, we're holding the Australian
Championships not in a seedy gaming store full of lonely boys with bad
skin, but in a pub. If worse comes to worst and you get poleaxed by
power stealth bleed on round 4 of all your games, at least you can
mosey downstairs and drown your sorrows at the bar!
The details:
Australian LCQ
When: Saturday, October 4th 2008
Where: The Parkview Hotel, 131 Scotchmer Street, Fitzroy Nth
[catch the 112 tram from Bourke St in the cbd]
Start time: 9am
Finish time: When it finishes
2hr round, 2.5 hr final.
Entry fee: $30 [this may get smaller depending on numbers. We only
need to cover operating costs, and pay for a nice bottle of whiskey to
numb my pain]
Australian Continental Championship
When: Sunday, October 5th 2008
Where: The Parkview Hotel, 131 Scotchmer Street, Fitzroy Nth
[catch the 112 tram from Bourke St in the cbd]
Start time: 9am
Finish time: When it finishes
2hr round, 2.5 hr final.
Entry fee: $30 [this may get smaller, again depending on numbers. We
only need to cover operating costs, and pay for a nice bottle of
asprin to numb my hangover]
Milsims has kindly agreed to donate a large number of boxes as
prize support, in addition to the support from WW. They'll also be
selling product at the venue on the day.
Drinking will be conducted in the common room downstairs after both
events. I recommend the Hoegaarden, it's quite special.
Any ousting resulting from alcohol induced poor judgement is your own
damn fault. Save the bevvies for after the game would be my advice,
lads.
Any questions can be directed towards Jason Ryan,
or our national VTES overlord, Grand Poobah Noel.
Look forward to seeing everyone again!

How to prepare for a Qualifier 2/24/2008
How to prepare for a Qualifier.
1. This is my deck. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
2. My deck is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I
must master my life.
3. My deck, without me, is useless. Without my deck, I am useless. I
must play my deck true. I must play better than my enemy who is trying
to oust me. I must oust him before he ousts me. I will ...
4. My deck and myself know that what counts in this game is not the
cards we play, the noise of our politics, nor the smoke of our
deception. We know that it is the oust that count. We will oust....
5. My deck is human, even as I, because it is my game. Thus, I will
learn it as a brother. I will learn its weaknesses, its strength, its
parts, its combinations, its rhythms and its patterns. We will become
part of each other. We will ....
6. Before Caine, I swear this creed. My deck and myself are the
defenders of my pool. We are the masters of the Jyhad. We are the
saviors of the game.
7. So be it, until victory is mine and there is no enemy but the next
table of players!!

Under Windows extract the folder "cardimages" and move it to where
ever ardb.exe is installed.

Back in September, I attended the Vampire The Eternal Struggle championship in El Segundo, CA and had a blast while selling originals and drinking free booze. Here's the first batch from that day and all of these are finalists from the game. All were done using watercolor and some Dr. Marten dyes.

2008 Continental Qualifier System Change 2/3/2008
The 2008 qualifier system works the same as the 2007 system except for one point:
All qualifier tournaments are handled equally regardless of order.
Players who qualify in one qualifier are not handled any differently
in other qualifiers.
They can continue to qualify in each qualifier in which they play.
So the business of figuring out who has already qualified (even if the
earlier qualifier's results haven't been reported) is eliminated.
The 5 finalists of each Continental Championship automatically qualify
for the next years Continental Championship for that region, as usual.
Also note that, as in years past, if multiple players tie for a
qualifier spot, then all the tied players qualify. This is true for
the new 2008 rule for finals (tie for 2nd).
So if a qualifier has 12 players (3 qualifying spots), then all
finalists qualify (everyone who finishes in 1st or 2nd place).
An example:
Adam - 1st place => qualify
Bruce - 2nd place (tie) => qualify
Bonnie - 2nd place (tie) => qualify
Bob - 2nd place (tie) => qualify
Brian - 2nd place (tie) => qualify
Fred - 6th place => doesn't qualify
